Haitian Immigrants located in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic
Haitian Hope Humanitarian Effort, Inc. maintains strong relationships with local organizations and ministries in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. Through these relationships, we are given many opportunities to see local ministries, get involved, and work to make a difference in the lives of children and families. This location experiences tropical weather and team members should be prepared for long working days. It is also important that you have a flexible schedule around the trip dates due to scheduling changes. Expect long waits (mostly due to transportation), and close quarters and collaboration with your teammates and trip organizers.
Wow!!! I have to say that I had a blast during the HHHE mission trip of 2019. I had
the chance to work and help the VBS team leader for the whole trip and worked with the health team
on Saturday afternoon. I also had the opportunity to work alongside our very own eye technician and
then with our physician team. That is what you called flexibility working wherever the Lord
leads.

Steps to Wellness was the theme for the Haiti mission trip 2019. The emphasis was
on the Source of healing and natural remedies that He has placed at his children’s disposal. At all
the locations, God as the foundation of all healing was highlighted. Our wonderful Heavenly Father
is no respecter of persons and the solutions that He has the common diseases of Diabetes,
hypertension and Cardiovascular were within the reach of all….including HIS children in Haiti.

I took my first mission trip to Haiti at age 14 with my Mom and Aunt. It was hot
and humid, and I knew nothing of the language or culture.
I took cold showers, got bitten up by mosquitoes (forgot my bug spray), and struggled to sleep.
Still, this was the trip of a lifetime. I've been back three times, with plans for a fourth.
The photos I captured of our work, the bits of Haitian Creole I've picked up while visiting, the delicious food,
the warm culture, and the communities we impact makes every trip worth it. We help people stay healthy with
holistic health education and supplies. We brought children joy and access to education with school supplies
and Vacation Bible school programs, and we learned so much about the vibrant history of the country of Haiti.
